EU unveils data center sustainability label for Big Tech
The European Commission introduced a mandatory A-to-G sustainability label for data centers, including AI facilities, to be applied from August 2027. The label will grade energy efficiency, water usage and clean power uptake, with optional ratings for smaller centers and stricter future standards. Only 36% of EU data centers currently comply with existing energy reporting rules, the Commission notes. (POLITICO)
