Airbus is migrating 70 critical applications for sensitive workloads from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to French cloud provider Scaleway, part of a broader European drive for digital sovereignty. The move, announced by Catherine Jestin, Airbus's head of digital, aims to shield critical data from US jurisdiction, particularly the CLOUD Act, which allows US authorities to request data from US firms even in overseas data centers. Scaleway (owned by Iliad Group) won the competitive tender with a strong technical and commercial offer, enabling Airbus to host applications required for its "Minimum Viable Company" operations. While Airbus will continue using AWS for some services, the migration marks a significant step toward European cloud independence.
