# Ten open source maintainers join Sovereign Tech Standards network

Ten open source maintainers have been selected for the Sovereign Tech Standards network to shape secure and interoperable technology through open standards. The initiative, launched on 24 August 2026, includes participation in standards bodies such as the Internet Engineering Task Force, the World Wide Web Consortium and the International Organization for Standardization. A new policy network on open digital infrastructure has also been established at the Internet Governance Forum to foster international collaboration. **(SOVEREIGN TECH AGENCY)**

Antoine d'Aligny, Daniel Supernault, Heiko Schäfer, Job Snijders, Kacper Dalach, Lola Odelola, Marten Seemann, Martine Lenders, Michael Pennisi, and Stephen Curran bring hands-on expertise from critical, open source infrastructure into three standards bodies: the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).These technologists all work in areas where open source infrastructure plays a critical role, from internet routing and web protocols to accessibility, digital payments, encryption, federated social platforms, and electric vehicle charging. Become part of the international policy network on open digital infrastructureEarlier this year, the Sovereign Tech Agency, together with the German Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation, proposed a new policy network at the Internet Governance Forum dedicated to open digital infrastructure. As basic technologies, such as core internet protocols, operating systems or software libraries, span the globe, governing, funding and sustaining them requires international cooperation.Our proposal was accepted: The IGF Policy Network on Open Digital Infrastructure is now starting its work and you can take part!
