# Greek IRIS P2P payment to join pan-European network

Greece's IRIS Payments, operated by DIAS S.A. under Bank of Greece oversight, has achieved universal domestic instant payment acceptance (first in Europe) and now connects to EuroPA, the pan-European network expanding to 18 countries and 176 million users by year-end. EuroPA was founded in December 2023 by Bancomat (Italy), Bizum (Spain), and SIBS (Portugal, operator of MB WAY), with DIAS joining in June 2025\. The integration enables 57.3 million citizens across Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Andorra to make free, instant P2P transfers using only mobile phone numbers, with settlement in seconds. Greece's domestic IRIS infrastructure already serves 4.6 million citizens, 600,000 professionals, 1.2 million POS terminals, and 70,000 e-shops. Merchant payments via EuroPA are planned from 2027, extending the mobile-number-based convenience beyond P2P transfers.
